About the Pottstown Heritage Group: Pottstown Heritage Group is a community-based nonprofit dedicated to preserving the legacy, stories, and spirit of the historic Pottstown community in Huntersville, NC. Through events, programs, and partnerships, we aim to build stronger connections, celebrate heritage, and provide tangible support to residents through initiatives like our Heritage Preservation Program, Community Care Fund, and annual events such as Deck the Soles: A Holiday Sneaker Ball for Safety & Warmth.
Position Summary: The Fundraising & Community Engagement Intern will play an active role in supporting the planning and execution of the Deck the Soles holiday fundraiser. This intern will gain hands-on experience in nonprofit event management, marketing, community engagement, and donor relations while contributing to a meaningful cause that benefits local residents in need.
Responsibilities:
Assist in event logistics, including sponsor outreach, vendor coordination, and day-of setup and support.
Help manage ticket sales and guest communications via online platforms.
Contribute to social media campaigns, including creating posts, stories, and engagement content.
Support the creation of promotional materials, flyers, and sponsor thank-you posts (experience in Canva a plus).
Assist with data entry and tracking of sponsors, donations, and volunteers.
Research local businesses, potential donors, and in-kind sponsors (such as wine, beer, and raffle contributors).
Participate in weekly planning meetings and provide progress updates.
Capture event photos or short videos for social media (if comfortable).
Support post-event follow-up, including sponsor thank-yous and recap reports.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a college or university program (Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, Business, or related fields preferred).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks.
Creative and enthusiastic about community work and event planning.
Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok).
Experience with Canva, Google Drive, or Mailchimp is a plus.
Learning Outcomes: Interns will gain practical experience in:
Event planning and nonprofit fundraising.
Sponsor and community partnership development.
Marketing and outreach for nonprofit events.
Data management and post-event reporting.
Professional communication and collaboration in a nonprofit environment
Time Commitment:
Seasonal Internship (October–December 2025)
8–12 hours per week , mix of Hybrid – remote & in-person event support
