In the left-hand menu, click on “Discounts.”
Use the search bar at the top to enter the name or code (e.g., “WELCOME10”).
Click on the discount code to open its details.
What to review:
Discount type (percentage, fixed amount, free shipping, etc.)
Eligibility (applies to all products, specific collections, or customer groups)

Combination rules (can this discount be combined with others?)
2. How to Create a New Discount Code
Steps:
Go to “Discounts” in the Shopify admin.
Click the “Create discount” button in the top right.
Choose the type of Discount code (do not select “Automatic discount”).
Note: You will most often use “amount off products”.
A. Discount Code:
Enter the code customers will use (e.g., “SAVE15”).
Make sure it’s simple and easy to remember.
B. Applies To:
Choose if it applies to all products, specific collections, or specific products.
Optional: restrict to specific customer segments or order minimums.
C. Usage Limits:
Limit to one use per customer, or set a maximum number of uses if needed.
You can leave this open if it's a general promo code.
D. Active Dates:
Set a start and end date/time if applicable.
Leave the end date blank for ongoing promos.
E. Combinations (Optional):
Decide whether this discount can be combined with:
Product discounts
Shipping discounts
Other order discounts
Click “Save discount” to activate the code.
3. How to Test a Discount Code
After creating a new code:
Go to your store’s front end (website).
Add an eligible item to the cart.
Proceed to checkout and enter the discount code.
Confirm the correct discount is applied based on the rules you set.
4. Notes and Best Practices
Use clear names for codes to distinguish marketing campaigns (e.g., “BLACKFRIDAY2025”).
Avoid overlapping rules that could cause confusion.
Always double-check eligibility and expiration dates before sharing codes with customers.
Consider setting expiration dates on limited-time promotions to avoid unintended usage.
Do not edit a live code that's actively being promoted—instead, duplicate and update as needed.
