Our theme is "Middle Grades" Teaching grades 6-8 is full of unique delights and unique challenges. So many of us are doing our best to make it work, but we are stronger when we collaborate. Let’s join together for an Edcamp to talk about how to support middle grades students and their educators.
BPS Participants will also be awarded 2 PD hours for attending.
Discussion Topics
How do we manage unique middle school behaviors in the classroom?
How can we support the needs of all students to engage in meaningful, rigorous work?
How do we create systems in the school that support our students and school community?
What does equitable literacy look like in my content area?
Strategies for challenging behaviors that build resilience and keep the learning going.
THANK YOU for those that attended our Edcamp on “How can we support the unique needs of middle grades students and educators?” of the 2022-23 school year. After the session, 100% of participants (13 out of 13 exit ticket responses) said that they would recommend this session to a colleague. Additional comments from participants:
“It was awesome to hear from other educators from other schools, to get their perspective and ideas!”
“It was the right amount of structured and unstructured.”
“It was great to connect with colleagues and know I am not alone.”
Based on this session, here’s some things that participants want to try in their own classrooms/schools:
“I got ideas for positive incentives for quick student engagement."
"I learned the importance of having low-stakes and data-driven conversations with students surrounding behaviors."
“I am thinking about how recess-like activities can help build community, and though we do nor have recess at BCHS, I think there are group activities that can be structured to help build community.”
