THANK YOU for all the educators that attended the Learning site at the Patrick J. Kennedy Elementary school in East Boston. Our host teacher was Carinne Gale (Grade 3 SEI @ PJ Kennedy) and debrief facilitator was Roneline Ramoutarsingh (Grade 3 Inclusion @ PJ Kennedy). We had 12 participants join from 5 different BPS schools/departments join this session.
After the session, 100% of participants (12 out of 12 exit ticket responses) said that they would recommend this session to a colleague. Additional comments from participants:
“It was so wonderful to be able to see another third grade SEI classroom. There are not many opportunities to get that experience and it was so helpful. "
"The protocol for sharing evidence, student impact, and excavating questions with Carinne (host teacher) felt like a purposeful, effective learning experience."
"I also loved being able to discuss different parts of the lesson and takeaways with other teachers and (the host teacher). It gave me ideas of what I can try with my own students."
We asked, “What's one thing you learned today that might benefit your students?” Sample responses:
"Being able to align my language objectives to set students up for success in our content objective.""
"Students can express their thinking in different ways. Student responses will not all look alike. We have to think about how students might be able to successfully share what they know."
"How to make Target Tasks accessible for multilingual learners by providing scaffolds so students can generate responses with increased accuracy and independence."
