Fall Planning Cohorts
A Planning Cohort is a space for educators to collaboratively plan with the support of a teacher expert. During the planning cohort you will have time to unpack curriculum to develop a thoughtful unit plan, pool resources with other teachers in a similar context, and receive feedback from peers and coaches.
Why do it?
Planning can feel isolating and overwhelming and is a huge time commitment. The goal of the cohort is to build habits that support future planning to save you time in the long run. It is a space for educators to problem solve and support each other in planning. Participants who complete the work in the cohort will also be eligible for 1 ALC for planning you are already doing!
Who is this for?
Teachers using a new curriculum
Early career teachers
Teachers overwhelmed with multiple preps
Anyone that wants a collaborator/thought partner in planning
Single strand teachers without opportunities for collaborative planning in school
Time: 3 hr Unit Launch in person and 6 x 1 .5 hr virtual follow-up sessions (Weekly)
Other: ~ 1- 2 hrs independent work
Credits: 12 PD hours or 1 ALC
Capacity: 6-8 per group

Illustrative Math Planning Cohort
Illustrative Math Planning Cohort (Grades 6-11) Starts 8/21: This Planning Cohort will address the question, "How do we thoughtfully implement the Illustrative Math curriculum to provide all students access to rich mathematical tasks and learning experiences?" A Planning Cohort is a space for educators to collaboratively plan with the support of a teacher expert. During the Planning Cohort you will have time to unpack the Illustrative Math curriculum to develop a thoughtful unit plan, pool resources with other teachers in a similar context, and receive feedback from peers and coaches. Earn 1 ALC for work you are already doing!

Open Up/ MVP Math Planning Cohort
Open Up/MVP Math Planning Cohort Starts 8/24: This Planning Cohort will address the question, "How do we thoughtfully implement the Open Up curriculum to provide all students access to rich mathematical tasks and learning experiences?" A Planning Cohort is a space for educators to collaboratively plan with the support of a teacher expert. During the Planning Cohort you will have time to unpack the Open Up/MVP math curriculum to develop a thoughtful unit plan, pool resources with other teachers in a similar context, and receive feedback from peers and coaches. Earn 1 ALC for work you are already doing!

EL Education (ESL Adapted) Planning Cohort (Grades 3-6)
EL Education (ESL Adapted) Planning Cohort (Grades 3 - 6) Starts 9/20 : This Planning Cohort will address the question, “How do we thoughtfully implement the EL curriculum to provide all students, especially our English language learners, access to grade level texts and content?” Led by experienced BPS Educators, a Planning Cohort is a space for educators to collaboratively plan with the support of a teacher expert. During the Planning Cohort you will have time to unpack curriculum, plan content units, and reflect on implementation, with the support of an expert teacher facilitator. This cohort will focus on planning using the EL curriculum and OMME's new ESL units aligned to EL. Earn 1 ALC for work you are already doing!

OpenSciEd Planning Cohort (Grades 6-8)
OpenSciEd Planning Cohort (Grades 6-8) Starts 9/28: This Planning Cohort will address the question, "How do we implement the OpenSciEd curriculum in an efficient and effective way to meet the needs of our students?" A Planning Cohort is a space for educators to collaboratively plan with the support of a teacher expert. During the Planning Cohort you will have time to unpack the OpenSciEd curriculum to develop a thoughtful unit plan, pool resources with other teachers in a similar context, and receive feedback from peers and coaches. Earn 1 ALC for work you are already doing!

Focus on K0-2 Planning Cohort Starts 9/29: This Planning Cohort will address the question, "“How do we implement the Focus curriculum in a way to facilitate discourse and activate knowledge through complex text?" A Planning Cohort is a space for educators to collaboratively plan with the support of a teacher expert. During the Planning Cohort you will have time to unpack the Focus curriculum to develop a thoughtful unit plan, pool resources with other teachers in a similar context, and receive feedback from peers and coaches. Earn 1 ALC for work you are already doing!

SLIFE Planning Cohort (Grades 3-12)
SLIFE Planning Cohort (grades 3-12) Starts 10/2 : This Planning Cohort will address the question, "“How do we plan SLIFE curriculum in an efficient and effective way to meet the needs of our students?" A Planning Cohort is a space for educators to collaboratively plan with the support of a teacher expert. During the Planning Cohort you will have time to collaborate with colleagues to develop a thoughtful unit plan, pool resources with other SLIFE teachers, and receive feedback from peers and coaches. In Person Unit Launch 10/2. Follow up sessions will take place on Zoom: 10/10, 10/16, 10/23, 10/30, 11/6, 11/13. Upon completion of the work, earn 1 ALC and 12 PD hours for work you are already doing!

Secondary ESL Planning Cohort (Grades 6 - 12)
Secondary ESL Planning Cohort (grades 6-12) Starts 10/16 : This Planning Cohort will address the question, "How do we thoughtfully implement ESL curriculum to provide all students access to rich language tasks and learning experiences?" A Planning Cohort is a space for educators to collaboratively plan with the support of a teacher expert. During the Planning Cohort you will have time to collaborate with colleagues to develop a thoughtful unit plan, pool resources with other ESL teachers, and receive feedback from peers and coaches. In Person Unit Launch 10/16. Follow up sessions will take place on Zoom: 10/23, 11/6, 11/13, 11/27, 12/4, 12/11. Upon completion of the work, earn 1 ALC and 12 PD hours for work you are already doing!

StudySync Planning Cohort (Grades 9-12)
StudySync Planning Cohort (Grades 9-12) Starts 10/17 : This Planning Cohort will address the question, "“How do we plan StudySync curriculum in an efficient and effective way to meet the needs of our students?" A Planning Cohort is a space for educators to collaboratively plan with the support of a teacher expert. During the Planning Cohort you will have time to collaborate with colleagues to develop a thoughtful unit plan, pool resources with other SLIFE teachers, and receive feedback from peers and coaches. In Person Unit Launch 9/19. Follow up sessions will take place on Zoom: 10/24, 10/31, 11/7, 11/14, 11/21, and 11/28 . Upon completion of the work, earn 1 ALC and 12 PD hours for work you are already doing!
