Our theme is "Alternative Education." Join us to discuss the question “What are the needs of Alt Education post-pandemic and how must we respond as educators?” So many of us are doing our best to make it work, but we are stronger when we collaborate. Let’s join together for an Edcamp to talk about how to support students in Alt Ed programs and their educators.
BPS Participants will also be awarded 2 PD hours for attending.
THANK YOU for those that attended our Alternative Education Edcamp on 5/3. 100% of attendees (22 out of 22cexit ticket responses) said they would recommend this session to a friend. Here are some take-aways from the exit ticket:
“It was so great to hear other educators share what has worked for them, what has been challenging, specific practices-- nourishing for the teacher's soul!”
“Hearing from other alternative Ed teachers about their struggles and knowing that we all are in the same fight to achieve success with adult learners.”
Based on this session, here’s some things that participants want to try in their own classrooms/schools:
“Learning strategies to maintain students engaged and strategies already implemented like reaching out to family members, building connections with students, and asking students for their inputs”

What is an Edcamp?
Edcamps are “unconferences” where there is no pre-set session agenda. The New York Times describes Edcamps as “an innovative form of training with no predetermined speakers or sessions, led by the participants themselves.” At an Edcamp, participants create the session topics at the start of the event based on their interests and questions. Edcamps provide educators with a professional learning model for growing, connecting, and sharing expertise with others in the room.
Why Edcamp?
Edcamp is a chance to connect, learn from each other, and figure out together how to think through new ways to create deeper learning experiences for students. We hope you’ll leave with new ideas and new connections.
