Helophilus pendulus

Habitat: Ubiquitous

Size: Wing length 8.5-11mm

Species account: The commonest Helophilus species, found throughout the UK. There is a distinct black stripe on the face and the hind tibia is black in the distal third only. The yellow markings on tergites 2 and 3 are split by a broad black bar. Flies April to November, commonest June to August.
