Bog Bush Cricket - Metrioptera brachyptera

Habitat: Bogs and wet heaths

Size: 12-20mm

Species account: As the name suggests this is a species of damp areas, notably lowland peat bogs and damp heaths. The combination of dark sides and bright green upperside makes this one of the most attractive UK species, and instantly recognisable. As with other orthoptera, nymphs appear from late Spring, with adults present in late Summer and Autumn.
