Eristalis abusivus

Habitat: Coastal areas and wetlands

Size: Wing length 8-9.5mm

Species account: A medium sized hoverfly, distinguished from other similarly sized Eristalis species by the middle tibiae, which are either entirely pale, or at most slightly darkened at the apex. Other distinguishing characteristics are the distinct stripes on the abdomen, although these can be faint, and the arista are almost bare. Flies from March to October.
