Eristalis intricarius

Habitat: Marshes and Woodland

Size: Wing length 8-12mm

Species account: Unlike the other Eristalis species this is a bumblebee mimic, and is thus more likely to confused with similar mimics from other genera. Males of Eristalis intricarius has a range of colourations, but always has black hairs on the side of the thorax. Females are more consistently patterned. Tibiae pale in the basal half.
