Slender Groundhopper - Tetrix subulata
Habitat: Areas of short vegetation especially in damp situations
Size: 10-12mm
Species account: Instantly distinguishable from the common groundhopper in having the thorax extending well past the tip of the abdomen. If in a coastal area in the southern UK, then the possibility of the rare Cepero's groundhopper needs to be considered. The latter has a wavy edge to the hind femur, and deeply toothed genital valves (a specimen may be required to confirm identification!)
