Epistrophe diaphana

Species account: A mediium sized hoverfly, with swept forward orange bands across the abdomen. These bands narrow dramaticallyat the margins, unlike the similar E.grossulariae. Epistrophe diaphana has clear grey stripes on the thorax, another trait shared with E. grossulariae . E.diaphana is a somewhat scarce species, especially outside of its core range in the southern counties.
