Megachile versicolor
Habitat: Woods, gardens and parks
Size: 10-12mm
Species Account: A small species found commonly across the UK, nesting in crevices and possibly sandy soil. Females have red scopae on the first four segments, changing to black at the tip, allowing separation from the otherwise very similar M.centuncularis. Males are indistinguishable without taking a specimen to examine under the microscope.
