Eristalis pertinax
Habitat: Ubiquitous
Size: Wing length 8-13mm
Species account: Generally one of the larger Eristalis species, Eristalis pertinax can be distinguished from similar species by the entirely orange/yellow front tarsi. It can be further distinguished from the common Eristalis tenax by having the hind tibia pale in the basal half. Widespread and common in the UK, flying from March to November.
