Scanning with the Copiers

It seems everything is in short supply these days. One of the things that I don't think we expected to become unavailable is paper for our printers and copiers. It is extremely frustrating as it is just one more thing that changes up our daily lives, routines, and how we run our classrooms. Arghhh!!! However, we do have technology at our disposal that can mitigate the impacts of a paper shortage for however long it lasts. Let's take a look:

1. Document Cameras: At this point I believe each classroom teacher has a document camera. Whether it is a Ziggi, an Elmo, or a Ladybug they can all help with conserving paper by display worksheets for all students to see. Students can come up to the document camera to fill in an answer and it be displayed on a screen for all students to see. If you do not have a document camera and would find one helpful please let me know!

2. Scanning Documents: Each of our copiers is equipped with the ability to scan. You can scan to three destinations on the copier: Google Drive, your email, and the emails of others. Here's a video that walks you through that process. If you could use a personal tutorial or help connecting your copier account to your Google Drive please enter a request in Web Help Desk.

3. Digital Worksheets/Assignments: Google Classroom and Kami are great tools for sharing and editing documents with students.

4. Video Responses: If using paper to respond to questions is not an option you can have your students complete a video response. Screencastify Submit is an efficient way to collect video responses to a question or prompt from your students.

There are plenty of other solutions out there. Please let me know if you'd like help implementing something that works for your classroom.
