Unplug your laptop from the charging adapter during the day - In order for your battery to retain its life you'll want to actually use your laptop with just its battery power. Ideally you will use your battery until the percentage drops around 40% and charge it until it is around 80%. Then repeat the pattern of charging and unplugging. A battery remains healthiest when it is used. The main take away should be, use your laptop while just using battery power.
Charge your laptop before it dies - Similar to the above tip, make sure you charge your battery before it dies. And when you do charge it, unplug it before it reaches 100% charged.
Control the temperature around your laptop - If your laptop is working under conditions that are above 80 degrees, your laptop is likely having to work extra hard to keep cool and will drain the battery.
Maximize airflow around your laptop - Keep your laptop on a hard surface like a desk and keep the space around it clear. This will increase the flow of air around your device and keep it cooler, making the fans work less hard. Using your laptop on the couch while being propped up by a pillow would not be advised.
Keep the lid of your laptop open - If you aren't using your laptop, it's ok to keep the lid open. You can press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and then click Lock to lock others out of your laptop. Just closing the lid can put undue stress on the battery as it may try to continue to run even while you are not using it.
Minimize the tabs open in Google Chrome - Google Chrome requires a lot of processing power to function. Each tab you use increases the amount of processing power your laptop requires to operate. The more processing power is required the quicker your battery life decreases. Try to minimize your tab usage to increase your battery life.
