Discovery Education - Videos, Virtual Fields Trips, and more!

I love April Vacation. It comes at just the right time. Not too early that the end of the year seems so far away and not too late that I freak out because the rigors of assessment, teaching, and end of the year planning catch up with me. April Vacation is great. This year my amazing wife allowed me to galavant around Mt. Cardigan in New Hampshire with some buddies for three nights. She held down the fort like a champ.

The fresh mountain air, brisk hikes, and crackling wood stove really set my mind at ease and gave me the opportunity to let go of some mental clutter and focus on what is most meaningful for the rest of the school year. I hope your April Vacation was as refreshing as mine was.

While in the outdoors I was reminded of the awesome resource that Discovery Education is. There are great videos and virtual field trips among other complementary tools.

Discovery Education offers a great 10-Step Guide to getting started with their service and content

They have great Virtual Field trips scheduled as well as pre-recorded to transport your students to places they would otherwise not visit.

Additionally, they have put together a great list of instructional strategies for using their service.
