Completing Interactive PDFs

Sometimes I think interactive PDFs are like self-driving cars. When they work great, things are amazing. Work is expedited, you get more time, and you save resources. However, when they don't work, the wreckage can be pretty significant. Fortunately, if something goes wrong with an interactive PDF your life isn't in danger but that's how you might feel if you've just spent 45 minutes completing Educational Assessment Part A and B only to finish, close the web browser you were filling it out in, and realize that the work wasn't saved and is now gone forever! I would like this to never happen to you so follow along as we walk through the steps for downloading, filling, and saving/printing your interactive PDFs.

In Wrentham we use interactive PDFs to make life easier. Our most frequently accessed interactive PDFs can be found in our shared WPS Staff Resources Google Drive Folder. Specifically in the Applications and Forms folder you will find Student Services Forms and reimbursement forms among many others. Please note, you will need to follow all of these steps before filling out the interactive PDF. You will fill out the interactive PDF in Adobe once it has been downloaded. Here are the steps to follow to insure your form is saved with all of its filled in content. The directions will begin with you using the Chrome browser and already logged into Google with your Google Drive open.

1. Browse to the form you want to complete and double-click on it to open it. The form should open in your browser window.

2. In the upper right-hand corner of the screen click the icon of the down arrow. This will download your PDF to your computer.

4. This will open the Downloads folder on your computer. Your file should be highlighted. If it is not, make sure you know the name of the file you are looking for. With the Download folder open, double-click the PDF you would like to complete.

5. Your PDF is now open in Adobe and ready for you to complete. You may now start filling out the PDF form. At this point you can save this PDF to your network drive. After you have saved your work, you can close the file and come back to it later. You are not required to complete everything in one sitting. You can also print the PDF.
