Waynesboro High School's head cheerleading coach is Bobbie Jarvis. Easton and Landon, two of her sons, are both football players. She teaches here at the high school as well. Her husband is Brandon Jarivs, head football coach here as well. We asked Mrs. Jarvis a series of questions and both questions and answers are listed below.

Jarvis finds that sitting them down to listen and comprehend, rather than listening for a response, is the best way to settle a conflict between two cheerleaders. The goal that Jarvis has set for her varsity athletes is to get the squad to the state championships. She also wishes for the JV squad to win in a competition.  Coach Jarvis "immediately just fell into coaching" after graduating from college in 2009. 2010 marked her debut campaign as a coach.

In high school, she supported the varsity squad from grades 9 to 12. then joined UVA's competitive cheer squad.

A typical practice for Jarvis is warm-up, stretch, then work on sections from our comp routine. “We attempt to improve our performance based on the scoresheet and any feedback from the previous competition.” States Jarvis. She continues by stating that the most challenging aspect of coaching is encouraging her athletes to have the same level of self-confidence as she does. Commitment, perseverance, and family are three of her core coaching beliefs.

Her relationship with her athletes is very open. “They know they can come to me whenever they need to, and I will always be here to lend them a shoulder if needed. I may not always tell them what they want to hear but I will always help where I can.” Over the previous few years, Mrs. Jarvis has gained a great deal of leadership experience. She has served as a coach in numerous allstar programs at levels 1 through 5, for children up to seniors. And has served as three VHSL programs' assistant coaches and head coach in turn. Last but not least, if she had to choose just three words to sum up this season so far, they would be unpredictable, exciting, and fulfilling.
