The Dragon Rapide is a 6-8 seat, short-haul passenger transport which first flew in April 1934.
G-AHAG was originally ordered for the RAF as a Dominie with the serial number RL944, but was never delivered. In Feb 1946, G-AHAG was delivered to the Lancashire Aircraft Corporation and after a few changes of ownership, the aircraft was withdrawn from use in October 1965, being destined for scrapping.
However, G-AHAG was bought by Scilllonia Airways and was used for parachute dropping. In July 1972, the aircraft was involved in a mid-air incident when two parachutists from another aircraft hit the fuselage roof.
G-AHAG was acquired by Southern Sailplanes in 1979 and was restored in 2009 after 30 years work. It is now used for displays and public pleasure flights, and operates out of Membury Airfield in Berkshire.
'Scillonia' is the Cornish name for the Isles of Scilly and 'Bryher' is the smallest of the inhabited islands.
