The Vulcan is a four-engined strategic bomber capable of carrying nuclear weapons. The prototype first flew in August 1952 and entered service in 1956.
XH558 first flew in May 1960 and was the last Vulcan to fly, making its final flight in October 2015.
It served as an air-to-air refuelling tanker between 1982 and 1984 and then served with the RAF Vulcan Display Flight until 1992. After being grounded until 1999, the Vulcan To The Sky Trust returned XH558 to flight on 18 October 2007 before finally being retired in 2015.
