The SE5 is a single-seat biplane fighter which first flew in November 1916.
F904 saw active service with the RAF in France in 1918. On 10th November 1918, F904 piloted by Major Pickthorn destroyed a Fokker DVII near Chimay, Belgium.
In 1924, F904 was registered on the civil aircraft as G-EBIA and was used for skywriting until 1928.
In 1955 it was recovered from storage and restored to flying condition in 1959.
In 2007, G-EBIA was extensively refurbished and it again wears its WW1 markings of F904 of 84 Sqn, RAF.
It is part of the Shuttleworth Collection based at Old Warden, Bedfordshire and can regularly be seen flying at Shuttleworth airshows.
