The TBM Avenger (the 'M' signifying that the aircraft was license-built by General Motors) was a torpedo bomber and had its first flight in March 1941 before entering service with the US Navy in 1942.

F-AZJA wears WW2 the markings of the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm and is owned and operated by the l'Association des Mécaniciens Pilotes d'Aéronefs Anciens (AMPAA), based at Melun-Villaroche, France.
