Konoha respected their bond with the Uzumaki so much that their clan crest is imprinted onto the back of their Jonin vests. The spiral pattern is prevalent in Konohagakure.
The Uzumaki clan are objectively the most powerful singular clan in the history of the Shinobi world. No if’s or buts. They lived in Uzushiogakure, the Village Hidden in the Whirlpools. This village shared a border with Kirigakure and Konogakure, an island between the two.
It was absurd - A singular clan able to pose threats to other villages? Despite being benevolent, many villages took notice of the Uzumaki’s alliances with smaller surrounding nations and constant rise in power. Rumours were surging that the Uzumaki had even tamed the Ninetales fox.
The Uzumaki have always had close relations to Konoha, yet even Konoha feared their strength. Especially the Uchiha.
The Uzumaki began to threaten the hold of many of the larger villages held over smaller nations. Even going against the Land of Lightning and their chokehold of their neighbour, the Hidden Frost Village. They were benevolent, yes, but their true, selfless desire for freedom, one that trumped the farce that was Konoha’s ‘Will of Fire’, loosened the grip the bigger villages had.
On a normal day, a bloody mist envelopes Uzushiogakure. Poison comes next. The Uzumaki are weakened, but their resolve holds firm.
They hold out - Until a professional seal-release, only possible through the experienced Jinchuriki captors of Kumogakure, is employed onto the 9 tails Jin at the time. The Demon Fox ravages and obliterates the city, the poison halting the red-haired Nin from using their expert sealing Jutsu.
Kumo and Kiri had slaughtered the Uzumaki. The message was sent to Konoha, but before it could reach the Senju, Yusuke Uchiha intercepted the message and stopped it from reaching the village. He believed the Uzumaki needed to die for Konoha’s own interest and that Kumogakure was too big of an ally.
Kumogakure would then pin the slaughter on Kirigakure. The Senju blindly side with them and thus the First Great Ninja War begins.
Due to Uzumaki’s generosity, many Nin were still inhabiting other villages for aid and relations. The death of the Uzumaki is widely blamed on Kiri despite the Land of the Water incessantly accusing Kumo. This stirs doubt within the Shinobi World as Kirigakure is known to seek glory and rightfully hold claim to their acts, no matter how vile.
You are welcomed in Konohagakure and Iwagakure with open arms.
You are detested in Kirigakure.
Kumogakure citizens adore and show condolences for you, but the higher ups are adverse to your presence.
