The Izuno tribe were a group of desert nomads who wandered the dunes of Sunagakure long before any permanent residents defied that sandy grave. They spent generations watching from behind predatory eyes the rise and fall of many settlements but as life seemed to finally find itself a spot in their desolate homeland the Izuno were none too pleased. 

Tales tell of bestial warriors descending with feline familiars to dispatch of the refugees to the burgeoning civilisation, traveling traders excited by the prospects of new horizons and even some highly trained ninja.

 While highly exaggerated these tales are the truth.

The Izuno tribe started a one sided war against Sunagakure using their resistance to the desert heat matched with ancestral knowledge of the land to outlast Suna while winning skirmishes by employing their ninken, cats given to each member at birth to grow and train beside them, and hidden techniques.

Eventually both sides grew weary and desperate, desperate enough for the Izuno Clan to be formed and adopted whole heartedly by Suna as protectors and good luck charms. Within Suna the Izuno are well liked and treated especially well even among other tribes with no matter how rude or off putting they can be, most people will simply smile at an Izuno member. Outside Suna, the Izuno clan are deeply feared with their mastery of ninjutsu and incredible abilities with stealth and survival leaving them a fierce opponent. 

A great importance is placed on the “Hunter’s Spirit” Within the Izuno and as they were originally a tribe and there are many families to fall under the name yearly competitions are held to find out who has the greatest “Hunter’s Spirit” And whoever is found to have it leads the clan for a year. This is a competition that involves wandering into the desert with their ninken, plain clothes and a singular kunai. Whoever is the last to come back wins.
