iburi clan

Due to their ability to transform into smoke, the Iburi clan are considered one of the most lethal clans in the five villages. However, their staggering weakness to wind keeps them confided in caves where their lethal prowess proves turns against them. 

The Iburi Clan consists of Full Body Transformation types - Their special Kekkei Genkai and property being smoke. Some call it dramatic irony that they find themselves habiting the Land of Wind, for their main and lethal bane is high-levels of wind. While powerful, the FBT leaves them extremely vulnerable to weather conditions, let alone Shinobi wind prowess.

They reside within caves deep beneath Sunagakure, their compound being a series of underground tunnels. The entrance to the Iburi Clan compound is sealed off as to deter the threat of wind. 

The Iburi clan has been around before Sungakure's inception, being one of the oldest clans in the Land of Wind. They did not choose to move into Sunagakure as the village had coincidentially been built above their stronghold. Their existence was barely known during the Warring States Period due to their elusiveness and preference to keep to themselves.

Unlike other FBT clans, such as the Kami and Hozuki, Iburi clan members do not choose to undergo their transformation. As they hit puberty, their body begins to morph into the smoke-state. Most of the clan members live their youth out on the surface before returning to the safety of the catacombs.

Only a select few Iburi members find themselves resistant enough to withstand wind. These few are eligible to become Shinobi. While still weak to wind, it isn't entirely lethal to them at all times. However, they resign the most formidable techniques a normal Iburi member may have, such as travelling directly into opponents to suffocate them.
