The Kodon are medical and sealing geniuses in Kumogakure. They are responsible for saving the life and sealing the Eight Tails into their Jinchuriki prior to the first war. 

While not as proficient as the Uzumaki, they are skilled in their own right. They are directly responsible for the Jutsu that unsealed the Nine Tails, leading to the destruction of the Uzumaki.

While they handle their responsibilities as the main medical and fuinjutsu specialists within the village, they also care to the main food supplies within the village, growing and utilizing mushrooms in the man-made caves scattered around the mountains of Kumo.

Their multi-faceted specialities have awarded them a spot among the nobles within Kumogakure and hold a strong political sway within the village.
