hoshigaki clan

The Hoshigaki are a Shinobi Clan native to the land that is now Kirigakure, preceding the Warring States Period. By nature, they have intrinsic characteristics resembling sharks. Frequently, these characteristics manifest as gills, dark sclera and discolored skin. Though, this rule is not without exceptions. As some members can appear more distinctly “human” than others. 

Within and outside of Kirigakure this clan has a sort of feared reputation. One that goes hand-in-hand with respect. Having historically garnered a reputation for being bloodthirsty and violent. In a place as militaristic and cutthroat as the Land of Water, this nature has garnered them a sort of reverence among its denizens. 

One of the most famous instances of a Hoshigaki was Hoshigaku Isamu. He used Samehada to beat 8 tails and save Oboro from total annihalation. A heroic act but it only made the people fear him all the more as Samehada transformed him into a ravenous beast before his death.
