Yiseo believed Seoryeong was a place fundamentally different from her own life. It was dilapidated, poor, rife with violence, and where sex was easily bought and sold. Her only thought was to quickly leave this dreadful place.
That’s why she absolutely did not want to get entangled with Tae Mujin, who was also fundamentally different from anyone else. A boy who, despite being barely a high school student, acted as a pimp.
“Go tell those bastards. Tell them she’s Tae Mujin’s woman. Tell them not to touch her.”
“What?”
Heat instantly rushed to her jaw. As Yiseo’s parted lips trembled, unsure how to retort, Tae Mujin twisted the corner of his mouth and added,
“If they think she’s a woman I manage, they’ll quiet down.”
At that moment, Yiseo’s mind froze as if her blood had congealed.
“Are you crazy? A woman you manage?! If you’re going to act like a pimp, go do it somewhere else.”
However, a small animal being hunted has a predetermined escape route. Yiseo grabbed Tae Mujin’s collar and pulled him closer like a lifeline. She thought, This kind of act couldn’t possibly be my first kiss.
