Terry Simon Protheroe was a conditional jockey with Frank Jordan and rode a couple of winners in the early 1990s.
His first victory came on Easter Monday, April 1, 1991, when the four-year-old Ullswater took the lead before halfway and was driven out to beat the odds-on favourite Rawaan and land the Easter Selling Handicap Hurdle at Huntingdon by a length and a half.
It was the only time Terry rode Ullswater and it was not until the meeting at Ludlow on November 21, 1991 that he had his other success. This time he took the lead approaching the second last flight on the four-year-old Castle Diamond and was able to hold off the challenge of Don’t Light Up to take the Elton Novices’ Hurdle by three-quarters of a length. Again, this was the only occasion on which he rode Castle Diamond, and he was unable to add to his score thereafter.
