Victor Piggott

1906 - 1992


Victor Thomas Cannon Piggott was born in France in 1906 and was the younger brother of Ernest Keith Piggott, father of Lester.

He rode his first winner on the Flat at Brighton on 4 August 1920, - Dorado in an Apprentice Plate - and his first winner over the jumps on 2 April 1923, on Bedelia at Manchester.

Having ridden over 300 winners, he retired in his early twenties after taking a bad fall.

He then joined his father-in-law's bookmaking in Malvern.

Victor died in Chichester, Sussex in 1992, aged 85.
