Joseph Pritchard

Joseph was indentured to Mr Henry Wadlow at Stanton, Shifnal, and rode his first winner in 1855 and his last in 1862.

In 1858, he rode a total of 31 winners.

Joseph won the 1858 Ascot Stakes on Pensioner & the 1857 Liverpool Spring Cup on Special Licence.

In 1857 he was able to ride at 4st 10lb,

He died of smallpox at Cleveland Street, Wolverhampton, on August 9, 1864.

An article in the Sporting Life refers to him as 'lacking courage' and of 'giving way to a bad life'.
