Martin Pepper


Jumps jockey Martin Nicholas Pepper was born on August 16, 1957, the son of a Hull trawlerman. He was apprenticed to Frank Carr and rode four winners on the Flat, the first being Surprise D’Hermite at Edinburgh on July 23, 1973.

Martin wore contact lenses when riding. He once broke a collarbone four times in one season.

His younger brother Neil Pepper also rode over jumps.
