Don Parker

National Hunt jockey Donald Gilbert Parker rode ten winners in a career that lasted from 1957 to 1965. He rode for Leamington Spa trainer Eddie Taylor and gained half of his ten victories on a chaser named Stumpy, whom he rode regularly for several seasons.

He won on Stumpy for the first time in a Ludlow novices’ chase on April 28, 1960. That was his only winner of the season and he rode just one the next, novice hurdler Tempsford Hall at Market Rasen.

His best season brought four winners in 1961/62, which included wins on consecutive days at Uttoxeter’s Easter meeting. He rode his tenth and final winner on Craig’s Cross in a Market Rasen novices’ chase on Easter Monday 1964. He retired the following season.
