Mark Perrett

The son of Flat jockey Phil Perrett, Mark Edward Perrett was born in Marlborough on July 24, 1962, and was apprenticed to Guy Harwood (whose daughter, Amanda, he married).

His first winner was Bayham Sir Vardon at Folkestone on March 17, 1980. His last winner was Anlace at Warwick on November 25, 1995.

Mark rode 370 NH winners plus 17 more on the Flat.

He rode four winners at Plumpton on April 16, 1990.

Best wins included the 1985 Topham Trophy on Smith's Man and the 1983 Triumph Hurdle on Saxon Farm.

He also won the 1993 Scottish Grand National on Run For Free.

His biggest win on the Flat came on the Martin Pipe-trained Balasani in the 1993 Ascot Stakes. When retiring from the saddle he became assistant trainer to his wide Amanda, though it is very much a team operation.

Mark had a bad fall on the gallops in 2014.
