Elsewhere in this website, I have shown how I use different methods to create my anime hair for use inside Poser (links provided):
I needed to work out Celshaders in the Cycles system for use with SuperFly render engine. Below, I show my solution for strip geometry hair with pointed tip transparency (I manually painted the transparency); for pull-vertices hair; and for strip geometry hair without transparency.
I have also made some annotated images which are self-explanatory, for the strip geometry hair, with semi-realistic hair tip transparency incorporated into the shader nodes.
In the real world, ball-jointed dolls (a.k.a. BJDs) are strung together using elastic string, and their individual body parts are rigid. In making my "real" BJD, I could not use the full figure rigging method in Poser software, because this simulates real world muscle deformation in body parts. My method to assemble my "Real" BJD is as follows:
Generate the body parts using Design Doll software by Terawell.
Clean up the geometry using Shade3D.
Create UV templates for texturing - Head parts and Second Skin base clothing to be painted on.
Export parts from Shade3D as OBJ, import into Poser software.
Make sure the imported BJD parts are logically arranged, have the correct relative scale, and are correctly parented.
THIS IS THE SECRET SAUCE: Open the Joint Parameter window, and for each doll part, change the numerical settings for the End Point to be the same as the Centre Point.
The Doll may now be posed like a BJD, but you need to do it manually.

I hand-painted the textures for my BJD character's face.
