Iron is an extremelly bland metal when it comes to its conductive and physical proprieties. It melts at around 1500ºC.
It is somewhat lustrous and gray in pure form.
While elemental iron isn't common in the wilderness or true nature, it can be molten into a relatively pure form with furnaces. It can be also extracted form structures left by the Artisans. This metallic and low-impurity form is called telluric iron.
Iron ores are very common, however, being found through the whole universe. The most common ones are hematite and (both 30% oxygen assembles), pyrite (with sulfur), goethite (with water) and ferrasterite (with starite and iridium).
Iron is also present in living organisms. Its most important function in biology is in the composition of blood.
It can be rarely found in Sideral Space in the asteroid ore leviathanite.
Iron can be used in industry for its sturdiness. It was not widely used by the Artisans, which preferred titanium for structural purposes. It is commonly used, however, by zoans, to make tools and weapons, as well as part of structures in the form of bolts and similar objects.
Iron alloys like steel are widely used by zoans and angels thanks to their structural proprieties. Beams in large constructions like towers and castles are mostly made of steel, which is also a very common material for ship hulls.
It is also the metal of the wings of the Leviathan.
