Alufa is the large island at the intersection of the Crossing Chains. As such, it belongs in the northern semicircle of Mundus Opera, a part of the Lyzy continent. It appears squarish when seen from above.
This island is covered in a type of orange, iron-rich clay similar to but less fertile than terra rossa. Cutting though it are many canyons formed at least 6 thousand years ago as glaciers melted. Many are fjords, despite the temperate climate. It only snows in the winter and there are no ice caps except for on mountaintops.
One of the largest canyons is also known to have a wild leading to the Glowisteria Cave.
On the islands plateaus it is common to find bamboo forests, or mixed cypress-beech forests dotted with cherry blossoms. The southern (nearing subtropical) canyons might have some azalea forests. Most canyons, though, are filled with cool ginkgo rainforests. This high amount of decidual trees leads to colorful forests during autumn, while flowering ones paint the spring.
The northern part of Alufa is covered in a desert (mild during most of the day, frigid at night)
The flowering forests are home to many small beasts such as mice, weasels, badgers, tanukis and squirrels, who feed on an abundance of colorful earthworms and nuts. There are also deer and enenra.
Specially within the canyons where ginkgos are abundant, it is common to find a wide variety of salamanders, small ceratopsids, dromaeosaurs and more.
The northern deserts are filled with lizards and scorpions. The top predator is the tarbosaurus, whose main food source are the barsboldia and the camel.
