Vampirism is a condition that affects fauna and peoples. It is caused by the vampire monstrosity agent and has many symptoms. There is no known treatment for the disease.
Vampires are extremelly photophobic. Light in general causes discomfort. Sunlight turns their tissues into salt, particularly a tartar bind. As such, vampires tend to live indoors or in caves or otherwise shady places. As monsters, vampires are also intoxicated by silver and don't have proper reflections on it.
Vampires are obligate haematophages, which means they sustain themselves on raw blood. They must still sustain their diets with water and other nutrients, which may vary depending on the creature or person infected, but they also need blood to survive.
Another common symptom is the increased sense of smell. Vampires are much more sensitive to smells than their healthy counterparts, being specially more sensible to the smell of blood. A vampire shark may be able to detect a single part of blood per billion parts of sea water. Generally, vampires are disturbed strong and pungent smells. There is a popular but incorrect belief by many peoples that garlic is toxic to vampires when, in truth, they are just usually very annoyed by the smell.
Vampires are also much more violent and emotional than their healthy selves. As such, they may act more on impulses and desires. This doesn't mean they are otherwise less intelligent than if they were healthy; a well-fed vampire may be just as cunning and knowledgeable as their healthy self.
Those afflicted by vampirism are unnable to age and are resistent to mechanical or alchemical attacks. Unless they starve or are poisoned with silver, they will recover from damage, as they have outstanding regenerative abilities. Cutting a vampire's arm will lead them to bleed profusely and loose strengt, maybe even faint. In a matter of days to months, depending on species affected, the arm will grow back. The same goes for any organs. Complete pulverization of a vampire will also put them into a near-permanent state of degenerate consciousness.
Vampirism is caused by the vampire monstrosity agent, or VMA, a species of virus. It spreads if the blood or saliva of a vampire penetrates the wound of a patient. The virus will quickly spread and make copies of itself.
Vampires, being often able to smell strong emotions, tend to target already impulsive people.
