Ishim, or angels, are almost humanoid creations of the Artisans. They were made in the intent of being warriors and messagers.
Ishim average between 170 and 190 centimetres of height, and stand over 2 legs. They also bear a pair of arms and one of feathery wings. Their heads are round-ish and their brain is encased in a lead skull that protects them from radiation; angel flesh is poisonous to most animals. They also have 2 eyes, 2 external ears, a mouth and a nose.
Ish skin ranges from pale gray to bronze or blue, with the presence of two pigments, respectively cyprangelin and cyanangelin. Their eyes are usually red, green or violet, but can also be amber or rarely brown or black. Their hair colour is normally brown, golden, silver or ivory and mostly grows in locks.
Metabolically, angels are heterotrophic. They need sugar and water to perform nasham, a process somewhat similar to breathing.
Angels were made before the discovery of sex or even parthenogenesis by the Artisans, and therefore are unable to reproduce naturally. As such, for many millennia their numbers simply dwindled as angels died and had their souls stolen by Necrodes. Originally composing a full 4 legions, they became less than a cohort.
Ish population rose again through 2 means. The first is through the Necromachiae, where many Powers (warrior Ishim) freed deceased Ishim; their memories were never back, however.
The second method is through homunculogenesis, a complex and expensive alchemical process that creates new life with personhood.
