Genetics are a branch of Alchemy concerning the study of the propagation of information through genes.
Genes are very complex compounds shaped like strings. They have a helical spine that is a bind of sugar and phosphorus assembled with bacillar oxygen bits. On this spine, many types of structures called nucleotides are arranged in sequence, each half a nanometre apart. These nucleotides are all binds of azote with a number of other elements, mostly fleshs, humours and woods.
Most creatures, as well a all artistic peoples, have a core, where their genome is stored. From there, many chromangia (gene vessels) transfer copies of fragments of the genome to many parts of the body, where they are used to maintain homeostasis, heal or regenerate body parts and often procreate.

Genes are useful inside the body because they are catalysts for a number of different alchemical processes, notably binding or assembling together elements that wouldn't naturally. The particular sequence of a gene changes its energies, which can lead to unique assembles of adjacent matter. Genes are higher in the Scale of Being than most other elements, and hence can (if robotically) command them.
Genes were first used by the Artisans to write compact messages, as inumerous paragraphs could be written in just a centimetre of a gene strand. Genetic letters can still be found in archaeological sites, usually stored within purple metal capsules.
