Alchemy is one of the 3 Holy Arts, alongside Verinomination and Astrology. Alchemy permeates the whole universe, and many natural phenomena are based on it. It is also the most studied of the three. It is based after numerous principles such as elements and reactions.
Elements are the simplest substances in the universe, and they were created by Entropy's and Emergency's footsteps. There are 120 elements in the universe, and they make up almost everything. They are taxonomically divided into 7 genera summa, each divided into many genera, each divided into some complexi. These 7 are the stones, the metals, the woods, the fleshs, the humours, the aethers and the salts.
Each element has unique proprieties, such as a particular electrical conductibility and or being able to emit light.
Energies are a diverse bunch of immaterial things with special proprieties. Elements may emit, transmit or absorb energy. There are few types of energy: heat, ionity, light, odour, electricity, radiation and sound.
Heat is a measure of temperature; the high-temperature bodies are hot. Heat can trigger many alchemical reactions, as well as change the physical states of some elements.
Ionity (acidity versus alkalinity) is a spectral propriety of substances. Many substances are acidic or alkaline, while other are neutral. Reactions between salts, metals and humours often involve elaborate changes in ionity. Extremely acid or alkaline substances are corrosive, but may be weakened in water.
There are many kinds of light, although they all share some characteristics. They all may trigger alchemical reactions and all are can carry heat in them.
Lights are divided into 14 colours, 7 of which are seen by the living and awake and 7 of which are not. The first 7 are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet and uva, while the others are up, down, strange, charm, truth, beauty and quark. Each colour has magical proprieties of its own.
Odour is the particular wave emitted by all substances. Many substances, like vanilla and bromine, emit powerful odours, while others like diamond and papilla, don't. Many smells have intrinsic magical proprieties; somnifer compounds generally intensify Dreamy colours and diminish Awaken ones. Coffee has the opposite spell.
Electricity is a spectral energy that may be positive or negative. When a body is electrically charged, it will emit a magnetic field. It will repel bodies with the same charge and attract those with an opposite one. Electricity may also trigger many alchemical reactions.
Radiation is a unidimentional energy that's emitted by a few elements, compounds and other entities. Uranium is an example of radioactive element, while the Sun represents an entity that emits high levels of radiation due to astrological effects. Radiation may trigger a variety of reactions. It requires some amount of light as a medium to travel on, so complete darkness is devoid of radiation under normal circumstances.
Sound is a wave that travels through matter, making it vibrate. While it can be a trigger for alchemical reactions, it sparsely does so. As such, Artisans chose it as a method of communication for themselves and many of their creations.
Size is also a form of energy. The more size energy a body has, the larger it is. Like other forms of energy, it can be exchanged. A body may shrink by releasing size energy in the form of heat energy, for example. Size energy is resistant to entropy and tends to remain somewhat constant unless disturbed by a spell.
Reactions are the interactions that happen between different elements. There are 4 most common types of reactions: Binding, assemble, separation and transmutation.
A bind is a perfectly homogenous mix between 2 or more elements. Bindings of different elements with one another get special names. The bindings between 2 elements are called:

Many binds made with specific elements also receive special names. Binds containing oxygen and one other element are called binds, while those with phosphorus are phosphates and those with sulphur are sulphates, and there are more examples.
An assemble is a macroscopically homogenous, microscopically heterogeneous mix of 2 or more substances, be them elements or bindings. They may are described by a large variety of terms, depending on how their minute structure repeats itself. Many alchemists through history disregard this as a true alchemical reaction, since it can be compared to building with large blocks. The structures are truly alchemical, nonetheless.
Separation is the division of a compound (binding or assemble) into purer forms. Many methods can be used to separe complex substances into purer ones, like distillation, membranation or centrifugation. These are often particular to certain compounds.
Distillation consists in heating a liquid substance. If one of its compounds can turn into a gas, or if one does that at a lower temperature than the other, it will change first, and perhaps be split off. It is useful for purifying water and alcohol, for example. Heating solids in the hopes to melt one component, however, is called fractioned liquefaction.
Membranation is the use of a membrane, plasmalemmata or similar layer to separe a compound in different components. Elemental membranes can only separe salts from water, but more complex plasmalemmata are able to select the passage of different materials.
Centrifugation means spinning a vessel containing fluid assembles very quickly. This may be able to mechanically dismantle the assemble. This method is also used to sediment minute particles suspended in a fluid.
It is also possible to separe any compound using philosopher's aether.
Anihilation is a process in which matter is converted into energy. This process is extremelly explosive, and converting few grams of any material will give off immense heat, light, etc.
