Clavimaria is a sea set mostly around the Central Spire.
Clavimaria is a warm sea that basks on the Sun year-round. It is separated from the Central Sea that surrounds the Central Spire by a fast spinning current that impeaches the excessive heat exchange. There are cold currents in the depths, however, which are responsible for giving Clavimaria a buffet of nutrients that sustain a highly productive ecosystem.
In its inner boundaries, lies the Great Kelp Ring, a massive forest of brown algae that may reach over 400 metres in height. They rise from the disphotic zone thanks to their spores being encased in nutrient-richm hard seeds that resemble coconuts. The sea floor at this point is characterized by many ravines and holes where the kelp can't grow, but where sea mushrooms, sponges and anemones do.
Further away from the Central Sea, with no kelp growth, the water is open and light may reach greater depths. This permits the growth of phytoplankton at exceptional rates.
As in most seas, fish dominate Clavimarine open waters. Not only piscian but also squalan and serpan fish. Alongside them, shrimp and loliginan molluscs thrive.
The Great Kelp Ring is also home to animals such as otters and sea stars, sea urchins and more. The kelp harvestmen are the largest herbivores and may eat hundreds of kilos of food every day. On the bottom, sessile animals such as clams and barnacles eat the debris. Within this forest, the top predator is the kelp wyrm. Its ravines, however are the hunting grounds of sharks
The open areas of this sea are home to one of the largest predators in the world, the kraken. It is able to hunt things such as rorquals, sharks and other loliginans. Sailors fear this monster for its habit of destroying ships. Besides the aforementioned filtrators, boatfish and wyrms are other large animals present.
