The Central Spire is a landmass found in the very center of the universe. Precisely, it lies amidst the Clavimaria.
An ancient spell made the Central Spire and the waters around it much colder than they should be. Despite bathing under the Sun year-round, there is snow most of the year and even permanent ice. The lowest temperatures recorded (at the top of the mountain) are of -68°C.
In the middle of the Central Spire is its namesake mountain, the remnants of the Zenith Pinnacle. It is the tallest mountain in the universe, with over 100 kilometres of height. It is extremelly cold and gets colder as the air gets thinner on its heights. The very top is mild, however, as the cold spell weakens.
The edges of the Central Spire have the Central Taiga, a snowy forest of conifers. Inwards there is the Central Tundra. Around the landmass there are the cold Central Beaches and then the central sea Clavimaria.
The fauna varies according to the region of the Central Spire. Most of the Zenith Pinnacle is rid of complex animals, but its lower parts have animals such as goats, yaks and camels. These goats are prey to eagles while all herbivores are prey to cryodactylus.
The Central Tundra is home to a variety of other animals too. Yet more camels compete with caribou and sheep for grass and flowers, while pachyrhinosaurus eats horsetails. Smaller beasts and saurs such as rabbits, foxes and stegouros also inhabit the slopes. The top predators of the Tundra are the nanuqsaurus and the cryodactylus. The snow vulture is a large scavenger of the area.
The Central taiga is home to a different array of organisms. The small animals mentioned above are also present, as well as caribou and nanuqsaurus, but animals like pachyrhinosaurus and cryodactylus are too big to delve into the forest consistently. Owls take the role of aereal predators. The borders of the taiga are surrounded by mammoths that thrive in the ecotone.
The beaches house seals and crabs while cryodactylus is able to hunt again. The sea is home to graceful whales and fearsome ningen. The waters' top predator is the ice ichthyosaur, a huge marine wyrm, but other honorable mentions include the great white shark and the central giant octopus. Fish, molluscs and crustaceans of many kinds serve as their food.
