A species created long ago by the Artisans to gather resources. Effodlimaces are curious and generally love the thrill of discovery and the unknown. In ancient times, they'd mine through the primordial mud and stone to harvest minerals for their masters.
As adults, Effodlimaces are around 1,5 m long laying down but unstretched. Safe for its claws, an Effodlimax has no skeleton and its body may be stretched up to 2 times its original size without harming them. The jaw is split sagittally and on each side is a 3-fingered hand with shovel-like nails. The tongue is also prehensile.
Effodlimaces each have 4 eyes, the second pair being very large and adept at seeing through darkness. Their sense of touch is finely tuned, being surpassed only by that of the Fairies that would come to exist later.
On its back, an Effodlimax has a sail-like fin it can wave to swim, though it can also wriggle on land. Paired tracheae can be found on the underside of the body, each leading to an independent gill book, for a total of 10 books. This is a safety measure against poisonous fluids that may infect the water they are diving through.
Like the Barophores, Fairies, Spindlegs, Computigos and Onirodes, Effodlimaces are all female and parthenogenic by default. They reach maturity at 13 years of age, after which they can be stimulated to spawn an elastic egg which should hatch in 7 months.
