In her role as an educator, Hamsa embraced challenging situations by leading with compassion and empathy. One of her seventh graders, raised by a single mother and facing difficulties due to his father's abusive behavior, found solace in her dedication. Despite his reputation for mischief, she chose to work closely with him, believing that nurturing his potential could prevent him from replicating the cycle of abuse. In another instance, a sixth-grade girl turned to Hamsa for support after her first period started at school. Taking on a motherly role, Hamsa guided her with resources and comfort, illustrating the importance of creating a safe space for her students.
Hamsa also made strides in supporting high-potential students like a fifth-grader who yearned for greater academic rigor. She organized extra online sessions to meet her students’ unique learning needs. Watching her students rush to hug her whenever she entered a classroom affirmed her decision to lead with love. Although she regrets not being able to intervene earlier in some cases, like with Kirti, a bright student from a government school, she takes pride in the progress made. Kirti, once overlooked, is now thriving at iTeach schools, embodying the values Hamsa instilled in her students.
