For Amita, love in teaching meant standing up for her students and showing them kindness when it was most challenging. She recalls a student who was deeply anxious and withdrawn; with the patience and encouragement of Amita and her classmates, this student gradually opened up, forming friendships and even participating in classroom activities. The act of caring became a foundation of their learning environment, transforming it into a safe space for everyone.
Amita’s students became her inspiration to co-create a Community of Practice focused on literacy. Together with her team, she has been working to cultivate knowledge-sharing spaces where educators can explore varied forms of literacy, from digital to oral traditions. Her goal is to ensure that each child feels seen, supported, and empowered—values she believes should be at the core of all educational spaces.
