The main idea that guided this piece is that I loved the look of this duck. I loved the pop of color they have on their wings and the way their other feathers lay. What I figured out with this work was how the female and male ducks look different.

For this piece I used colored pencil and water color on bristol board paper.

The process I went through with this piece was differing between what materials I should use. I tend to work better with colored pencil so that's what I chose. I was also deciding between doing the male and female or the female and the babies, but I figured doing the male and female would give people a better understanding of how the duck looks. I did have to research about how the female and male differ between looks and life. You can clearly tell how they look different but they also do different things like most animals.
