Artist Statement

My main idea that guided my work was to show how some people chose to escape from reality and go to a different state of mind. Obviously not everyone uses drugs and alcohol to go somewhere new but it is a very popular coping tool that people use.

I made this on watercolor paper using BLICK brush markers.

I originally wanted to have each light a specific color and have them over lapping but I soon realized that if i did do that and mix all the colors, all of the space in the middle would just be brown and mucky so I decided to just make each individual space its own color.
