Extended Blind Contour

Artist Statement

The main idea of this piece was for it to look like a hand was reaching into a candy bag. I tried to create all the abstract shapes in it and turn them into candy or candy wrappers.

I made this on Bristol board using a sharpie pen for the first marks and finished it up with some colored pencils.

It took me a while to figure out what to create from all the random lines and swirls. I was hoping to make something on more of the abstract side or a little more random. Something that isn't so perfect and realistic. I started to see some swirls and circles and shapes that reminded me of candy so that's what I decided on. There were a few places where I had to add some of my own lines for it to make sense but I think it all came together randomly.
